I'm researching a trip to Ireland. The plane there takes 14 hours and returning 4 hours. Does that make sense to anybody?
That's Chicago to Shannon, then Shannon to Chicago

Time changes. Flying against on the way, with on the way back, but it will still take as many hours, unless you're hopping back on an F-14

What part of Ireland will you be visiting?
By Chani on Thursday, November 27, 2003 - 04:22 pm:
first new grange, then follow the coast north and west. I want to walk some, and I'm Christy Moore's number one fan. Tickets are 99$ usd on aer lingus if you don't stay more than 5 nights. My travel companion has been twice, I want to take the bus and pretend like I'm a native. She wants to rent a car.

believe me, gurl, everyone will know your not native. i mean that as no offence, but if it's not too much for you...rent the car. you'll be infinitely more comfortable and you'll be able to go where you want...and most importantly...you'll be able to STOP where you want.
good luck and i hope you have a good time here.

I'd have to agree with Curoi about the car rental... It allows you more freedom with what you see and spend time with...

I agree too, get a car rental. It would be so much easier for you. Have a great time and tell us all about it when you get back.

sounds good. I'll check back in in April or before then when my next questions crops up.

Ok, I'm back. the plane took 8 hours each way. HA. New Grange was our First Stop and if I go back I'll schedule a week to stay in Trim. Hertz rent-a-car put the screws to us at the airport when they wanted 2,000 u.s. $ for insurance so we walked out of there before my daughter was in tears. Budget rent a car was more reasonable and we drove a nissan micra. It was fun, It was little, One flat tire and a couple of curbs. One close call in Derry, but thank god for the chance to get into the right lane.
we stayed overnight in Navan, Ballycastle, Derry & Sligo then 2 nights with my sister then home. Indigo: I only made it part way through that book you recommended and I picked up Rebel Hearts, but only read 1/2 of that. Price of my soul by bernadette devlin is a worthwhile read.
Accasbel: I think aer lingus mentions you in their in-flight movie. Someone who's been promoting cobh?
I met 4 people whose memory I will keep. 3 of them republican and 1 a hitchhiker we picked up leaving Sligo. She works for occupation watch- A brave girl.
Christy Moore was playing at the Dublin Airport as we left (not in person, an album) and that was the perfect finish.
