Hi folks :)
We have been testing the waters at the new home for nOggers, and it's been great fun s'far.
Speaking for myself, I got caught out on a couple of pose balls which animated my AV doing some stuff that I didn't expect, (quite so soon at least). *blush*
I got into trouble over at Harvey Bay where I innocently walked onto a super yacht and the alarms went off, then I was temporarily put into what looked like a holding yard *L*. I then tried teleporting back to Tir, and luckily it worked, otherwise I would have been counting on you others sending out a search party to break me outta incarceration.
Got together with Indigo and her son Tyler, McGuire, and we tried out an Irish pub, where some woman started chatting me up and shouting me drinks *L*. McGuire gave us a good rendition of RiverDance, and at one stage a chap from France came in and just stared at him while he moved quite spastically across the floor, over tables and chairs and around anything that moved. I tried to reassure the new visitor that my friend was simply very happy, and added that he did, of course, go to the Michael Flatley School of Dance. *LOL*
Tonight, McGuire and I tried out a couple houses to see how they looked and ended up listening to someone's stereo, then we went out clubbing, and had a ball of a time. I soon found that the night before was only a hint of what was to come! Not only did Mac do a hielan' fling at one point, but then took out the whole floor space of Club Atomic! I never knew he could dance so well! *L* Naturally, I joined him and we boogied so hard our boogies fell off! (...read: our computers froze up solid *L*)
Anyhow...I though this might be a nice spot to share a few postcards from The Edge *L*. Anyone else who makes it over to SL, feel free to post your snapshots here (but remember you will need to reduce the size considerably to fit into the sizing format of 50kb here at the nOg.

If anyone gets stuck somewhere they don't want to be, just TP out.
Tp out to anywhere if in a hurry!
In a REAL HURRY - just log out.
Either way, you avvie disappears from that place.
If you log out, remember when you go to log in to check the option that you have set to be start location. Select anything other than "Last Location" :)
Logging out is a great way of avoiding overlong goodbyes. "Crashed" is an acceptable excuse to use later for just disappearing :)
By Silk on Sunday, February 25, 2007 - 02:58 pm:
Thanks for that Acc...Must check that thing with the start location out! I was being beamed back to last location, but managed to fly out fast enough that I didn't get caught up again, then I TP'd back to Tir to make sure I was 'home'. I thought at one point I could make Tir 'home' but one has to own land to assume such right, so 'start location' sounds a good option, fer now! *L*
By Accasbel on Sunday, February 25, 2007 - 04:12 pm:
I'm playing with the settings of that patch of land to make it Group enabled/owned.
There are some management issues to be organised by myself.
Group members would then be able to make it home, and would be able to have stuff on display for sale there.
As must be apparent :) - I'm being dragged off to revenue-earning work in SL and RL at the moment.
I intend to get back to the Tir build early in the coming week.

It it fairly essential to get to grips with Camera Controls (in View. That allows you to move your viewpoint without having to move your avvie.
Good for browsing in shops and junkyards.
Good for checking out who and what is around while apparently inspecting something.
Some poseballs, say sitting on a bench near a wall, can leave you 'looking' at a wall, because the default position for viewpoint is behind and a bit above your avvie head.
Mouselook is good, but Camera Controls generally give a better experience.
Hint: If you get stuck in some sort of enclosure/room, and it appears that logging or TPing might be the only way out, use your camera controls to move your viewpoint outside, the click/sit on something there!
Another one:
When TPing in to some place, it can be useful to move a little and fly up a bit the moment you land. Especially if rezzing is slow.
1) You're out of the way of other avvies TPing to the same point
2) You're out of the way of people who might like to make uninvited approaches (It happens! Have you noticed?)
You might be banging off the ceiling in some places, but what the hell? :)
While you can't just make any place 'home', you can have the same effect. Just Tp to your choice of location before logging out. On logging back in, choose the "Last Location" option - and you're 'home' !
Lots of ways of achieving the goal :)

The Tir skybox is "reconfigures"
- more in keeping with the spirit. LOL
The one that was there went in at 5 minutes notice. I thought that 'someone' might appreciate somewhere a bit more private to practice Appearance changes. :)
Anyone changing 'in the wild' with SL residents coming and going might get a bit of hooting and jeering - if they hadn'i sorted out most of that sort of stuff in Orientation Island.
The new skybox is more of a bar with a sit-around fire. (in a castle)
By Mcguire on Tuesday, February 27, 2007 - 08:24 am:
I just came from there. I teleported in expecting the space station thing and got the castle instead. I like it. I wonder if it's possible to have turf in the fire rather than logs? *L* Can we get some music in there? I've been to a place called a Touch of Irleand and there was a lot of Irish stuff focusing on the IRA *L* Not that we need that, but some nice Irish/Celtic themed stuff, maybe mixed between traditional and contemporary would be cool. From Eleanor McAvoy and Christy Moore, to the Corrs, to Van Morrison, Clannad, Anuna, to maybe even U2 and the Pogues? *L* Tommy Makem? Danny O'Flaherty? Loreena McKennitt? Ciarán Farrell? Chieftains? Waterboys? Hothouse Flowers? De Dannan? The Boomtown Rats? *L* That would be grand!
By Accasbel on Tuesday, February 27, 2007 - 08:42 am:
Yes. I'm looking at options for a bit of "Quality" music.
Turf, and other stuff, yes. - I threw the castle and contents together in a short time - a bit more than 5 mins, but still in a rush :)
It's a stop-gap while I continue the main build.
However, something will remain 'up there' as a quiet spot for group members.

Met Accasbel online tonight in SL Tir, had a bit of a chinwag, and then he invited me to take a tour of an interesting Island called Svarga. We boarded a pale turquoise 'podmobile' and started off on our free sightseeing tour of the Island. Unfortunately very soon into the tour, either there was a horrendous lag, or my 'puter just couldn't handle it. Any rate, I tried to log out and back in a couple times but without real luck, so I TP'd back to Tir arrival lounge then decided to call it quits for the evening.
Here's a couple of beautiful pics of the sunrise or sunset (not sure which it was in fact) which lit up the sky as we began our tour...
Thanks Acc for you help and suggestions regards the overshooting the mark when flying. Bang the keys is indeed what I did, while trying to get where I wanted to be. It's like road rage, but it's on the cyber highway! *L*

McGuire, love the idea with the turf fire and the music! I would add, how about some Irish instruments, such as harp, bodhran, tin whistle etc...so our lads can session together and we lassies can have a jig! Acc has the Tir Skybox looking pretty good now. The castle look works well!
By Silk on Tuesday, February 27, 2007 - 12:14 pm:
BTW...the podmobile would be great news For our buddy Celt!...You just sit there and the pod flys you around the place! :) Maybe we could have one of those for those who can't face trying to fly or walk?
By Accasbel on Tuesday, February 27, 2007 - 12:21 pm:
The tour worked fine for me Silk, with your avvie sitting in the pod until close to the end.
I'm not sure how much of the detail of the Island you could see. Believe me, even on intermediate level tech, it's stunning.
That would seem to point to issues with your PC and/or Net connection path to the SL servers.
Try winding back on the graphics features as per the URL I posted elsewhere.

Especially for Celt who made the request, but also for all of you who are thinking about making a leap to Second Life, or just want to know what's been happening over there, here are some shots of what Accasbel's place looks like right now in May 2007.
Keep in mind that it is still under architectural and decorative development, and that as time permits we will without doubt, see the nOg blossom to it's full richness :)
Just like to also thank Accasbel for allowing me to display a number of my artworks in his gallery. Celt...if you get your arse into gear, you can be in there too!! :)
Yours truly inside Acc's gallery/shop.
A view looking down into the 'gut' of Tir na nOg which floats in mid air at present. Note the upper level deck. Landing into the 'gut' you will find the tavern, gallery, dance courtyard, pool.
View from corner by pool looking over courtyard towards gallery doorway. Jukebox sits against the wall in the courtyard and has a huge selection of music genres and choices within those genres to choose from. Anything from Alternative rock, to celtic, to classical.
View inside tavern looking towards lounge. We have TV (movies) and music available inside the tav.
View from opposite end looking from lounge past fireplace to bar. Entrance doorway on your right.
View of bar looking towards fireplace and lounge.
Me relaxing on the cushions in the lounge :)
