Ok so i ha a snail speed of 45 till a year or so ago then it crawled up to 512. Then I told my providor I was thinking of swapping.Suddenly it is 25% cheaper and today my speed was 3817.

I know rock concerts are a way to raise awareness of issues but todays Earth concerts seem to involve groups flying to each others countries to perform and then lecturing us about carbon footprints e.g. UB40 in South Africa and various North American bands in the UK.

Personally I will take these guys seriously when for example they stop flying to Africa to adopt when there are loads of kids here in the west who need a home (many of african origin) and when they all melt down their private learjets and turn them into windmills............

It's pure hypocrisy. I will probably not burn as much fuel or create as much carbon in my entire life as Al Gore makes in a month with his air travel and driving around in a Suburban, followed by a couple more Suburbans full of secret service agents. I resent these people bitching about the state of global warming, fuel usage and whatnot when they themselves are some of the worst culprits. John Travolta keeps a Boeing 707 parked at his house and flies it regularly, sometimes with very few people on board. Those people are not subject to the same rules as us common folk. Go figure. Hypocrisy!

The global warming lobby seems very much like the millenium bug lobby at the moment.

To attempt to discuss or to dare not to instantly agree that global warming is happenning, is negative and can be altered via man is to be a heretic.

On BBC this week they had a 30 second news report that said scientists looking at the ice in Greenland found that there had not been significant shrinkage in it 150,000 years ago when a period of global warming (obviously not our fault then)had produced temperatures a full 5 degrees hotter than now.

I am not a flat earther but this report had no comment from the BBC themselves or from anyone else.

These things need discussing not bandwagonning.
Al Gore may be right or wrong but I am not taking his word without debate. Our ex PM flew 34,000 miles going round the world saying goodbye to all and sundry . What price his carbon footprint.

If Britain closed down as a country carbon production would fall 2% across the world and the Chinese would make up that difference in less than a year.

I will recyle because I have for years. Turn off lights because it costs to leave them on for no reason. Would use public transport if we had any (2 buses per week here guys.)We are looking at solar power because long term it makes economic sense for us as a family and it would make sense for the UK to not be reliant on the Middle East or russia for our fuel. None of of this is to do with global warming if it exists.

If we get people thinking this is the only reason to recycle , not waste , conserve fuel and look for efficent use of energy then if it turns out not to be true or not so bad or not something we can alter what motivation for all these other things.

Somehow I don't think that what Al Gore drives or what he says makes much difference in the long run. Questioning the validity of global warming via ad hominem attacks is of little use to anyone other than GOP spinmeisters. What Al Gore says doesn't matter, what 95%+ of scientists say does.
And they say that it is real. And manmade, and that we have damn little time to start fixing things. Yes the Chinese will probably fry us all in the end with their emissions. But that is no excuse for our side to bury our heads in the sand and continue on as before.

I don't believe that was an ad hominem attack Celt. It is a valid point that people who bitch about global warming and then do things (like flying all over the place), do more to contribute to carbon emmissions and global warming than the little old rank and file people like me who do try to conserve fuel, lessen their personal output of stuff and fly once every three years. If I had said that Al Gore was a dumb ass, Forest Gump talking, Frankenstein looking M-effer, then that would be an ad hominem attack. Nobody here is questioning that global warming exists. I do however, question the causes of it. This planet will shake us trivial humans off like a bad case of lice when it's ready. I think you need to look at the other contributory facts about global warming, such as the other planets are also experiencing planetary warming. 1000 years ago, northern Europe was a much more verdant place and the planet was warmer. It is likely a cyclic thing. Don't get me wrong, I do not drive a huge vehicle or pollute very much. I recycle and all those other good things we learned. I believe we should find better ways, more efficient ways to create energy and stop polluting the planet. We also need to get to a point where we stop using petroleum products, if for no other reason than to stop the funding or terrorists and other idiots (including the ones that we have here, many who are politicians). Science can be just as political as Mr. Gore. I guess we should all love Al Gore because, after all, he did invent the internet, didn't he?
