He had a face on him.

One my wife overheard
- "You're as handy as a small saucepan."
This meant "very handy".

Sure it wasn't you're handy witha small saucepan could have been a Gordon Ramsey moment ...boom boom?

And yea to various prawn theories.

What about

Shot through like a Bondi Tram!!!!

Apparently, the Bondi Tram runs through parts of Sydney and has been around since the 1800's. The assumption would be that it's fast (faster than the bus?)

Well you might think so but it is more to do with making a hasty departure or even an unexpected one often in the context of where is he off to and is someone in pursuit.

Another I hear you shout (or is that enough...)

I like the phrase "'Fair to middlin'".. I remember my grandma, when asked how are you? or how you doing? She answer "Fair to Middlin'."

I've also heard the phrase 'You're as handy as a pocket on a shirt'... meaning you are very handy..

My Ma use to have a saying... "Patience and perserverance took a snail to Jerusalem". *L* Even now, I still wonder...why the heck would the snail want to go to Jerusalem! *L*

"I'm grand!"
- in response to "How are you?"

I'm not sure if this a Cork-rooted expression.
People from other parts are inclined to slag us over it.

"Slag" ?
- to make fun of in a purely friendly way (mostly).
Ah, we're only slaggin'
