In the timeless land of Tir na nOg, there lives a Lady.
This Lady loved the land, but mostly loved the people who lived there with her. It gave her comfort and joy to chat and play and share her life with them. A great deal of her pleasure in her life in Tir na nOg came not just from meeting new people who came from far and wide to visit, but watching them find friends and comfort in the community of Tir. She liked nothing better than seeing the ‘bright and brash’ or the ‘shy and quiet’ find their place among the gathered. At times she spent hours just talking, just fending; sometimes drawing out the shy, sometimes fending off the brash, bringing them slowly around to the quietness of Tir.
Now, no angel is this Lady! She was always in more than her fair share of scraps and trouble in and around the land. Sometimes her fun was so risqué she expected a quiet chat in her ear from the famous Inn Keeper.
The strange thing is ….. and no one sees … this Lady of Tir is probably the one most in need of comfort. For all her chatting, she, like most, has secrets, and sadness – sadness so deep within her, few ever see.
The moral of this story? I guess the moral is to remember behind every handle at Tir na nOg is a whole, real person sitting at a keyboard. Each one with as many facets as the next. It is so easy with this medium to see only the flat picture, like a photograph.
