The WhatThe Ashore section contains notes on, and links to, web resources of interest to people training for the RYA Day Skipper or Coastal Skipper programs. The Weather and Tides sections should be of general interest. The Afloat section contains images from some cruises along the South Coast of Ireland. The Links section has ..... well... good links. Where these pages have a geographical focus, it is on UK and Ireland, with some specific references to the coast from Cork Harbour down towards South West of Ireland.
The WhyThe boating and sailing of my childhood and teen years was all practical and picked up on a need-to-know basis. Course to steer was not an issue. Apart from some localised spots, tidal vectors around Cork Harbour and the South are parallel to the coast. There were other non-issues. To fill in the gaps, I took a few formal shore-based and practical cruising courses at Eddie English's International Sailing near my home in Cobh, Co. Cork.
